Seam Finishes
This is a 4.5 to 5hr class over two days. We will cover over 10 different seam finishes. We will discuss when to use each finish, which fabrics to use, and how to create the seam finish.
Included in the curriculum are French Seams, Mock and Flat Felled Seams, Hong Kong Finish, Bias Binding Finish and more.

Zippers
Zippers can be functional and decorative. In this 2.5hr class you will learn how to insert a zipper four different ways. Some methods will apply to garments, others to both garments and home dec. You will have an opportunity to practice all methods on various fabrics.

Facings & Interfacings
Woven, knit, fusible, sewn-in. You'll have several options to choose from when it comes to interfacings. You'll also have choices when it comes to facings. Learn how interfacings work, how to choose them, and what to do with the facing pattern pieces.

Buttonholes & Closures
One of the advantages of creating your own garment is that you can go off course. You can change the recommended buttons, alter the buttonholes to match the garment's geometry, or come up with a new closure. We will learn how to make buttonholes beginning with the traditional one and ending with creating your very own custom closure.

Pockets
Pockets are handy, but the wrong pocket will make your garment look awkward. Learn how to make side and patched pockets, single and double welt, and add a flap.

Neck Finishes

Waistbands
Waistbands will no longer be a mystery. You can choose from elastic, elastic with casing, waistband facings, drawstrings, straight, stretch and many more. Learn about the different waistbands and how to attach them. Learn how to choose the correct waistband for your project.
