Welcome to Exploring Textiles!

My name is Monique and I'm the owner/creator of Exploring Textiles. I started this business because I believe creativity has many benefits from learning discipline to destressing. Some may say that there are plenty of locations to learn crafts, and I agree.

So why should you choose Exploring Textiles? Because we are different.

• First, our location is like nothing else. We are fortunate to have a studio/atelier in an artist farm. We are surrounded by nature, creativity's best nurturer.

• Second, our classes are small. Most structured classes are limited to four students. As an instructor I believe it is important to give every student as much attention as they need. In large classes either the instructor doesn't get around to everyone, or worse, the student might feel embarrassed and not ask the question. Just because our classes are small doesn't mean our pricing will be higher. Our pricing is in line with other local businesses. But our students benefit from semi-private instruction.

• Third, we are not tied to a particular brand or discipline making our creative journey open ended. We welcome all, and we are always eager to learn a new skill. My goal is to empower you to create your masterpieces with the tools you own. If there is a discipline you would like to learn, ask us. Chances are we too would would be interested. Our space is set up for visiting instructors. All we need to do is find the person who is willing to teach us at our location.

Once upon a time a professor told me I needed to be "more verbose" in my writings. Now I tend to write dissertations! And who wants to read a dissertation? I've learned that dissertations don't work in modern communications, therefore I'm changing my writing style. My personal goal is to write short and to the point snippets that you can read in just a few minutes.
