This is a lot more time consuming than I initially thought.

Hello friends,
I had every intention to post at least weekly when I sent my first blogpost. That didn't work! I noticed that the last post went out December 15, 2019. So.....
Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. I spent the majority of mine working on various aspects of my business, Exploring Textiles. Initially I had hoped everything would be up and running by November 1, 2019. Ha! I guess I'm a glass half full type of person.
Starting a business today is a lot of busywork. There is building a website, developing a social media presence, paper and online marketing, purchasing supplies, creating product, setting up accounting, setting up the studio and on and on. Every time I think I have all the balls in the air one comes crashing down. But.... I pick it up and try again.
The "Learn to Sew Series", which is our flagship program, is ready to go live. I spent a lot of time revising the original program and making it relevant for today's sewist. The "Learn to Sew Series" is still based on a 30+ year old proven program. In fact I learned my sewing skills when I took the original 3-month class back in 1994. The updated version consists of micro-lessons that are specific, manageable, actionable, relevant, and time sensitive. You will have basic sewing skills by the end of the second lesson and can make a simple shirt by the third lesson. The first class starts this coming Tuesday January 21, 2020.
By now you know that I prefer to teach smaller classes. I like to give my students personalized attention. The Learn to Sew Series lessons are limited to 4 students per session. But don't despair. I'm offering there sessions, two on Tuesdays (10am-12:30pm or 6-8:30pm) and one on Saturday (10am-12:30). And they will repeat every month or thereabouts.
Next on the agenda is starting the "Open Atelier Sewing Sessions". These are 2.5 hour sessions where you get to sew on your project and have access to an expert to answer questions and provide support. I'm hoping these will start in February. In the meantime I'll open the Atelier (Studio) for my former students, friends, and subscribers. You'll be able to sign up for free sessions until the end of the month. All I ask is that you schedule your session on line via the website.
I promised to keep my posts short, so I'm signing out. Below is a link to the Learn to Sew Series and the Open Atelier Sewing Sessions. Please share this information with your friends and family. I appreciate referrals and will make it worth your while if the person you referred signs up for a class.
With Gratitude,
~Monique
